Our Assam Hathikuli GBOP First Flush is the only first flush Assam we have been able to get our hands on. For us, it has been a needle in a haystack scenario. The first plucking period in April, which provides a full taste, with a spicy note. The bouquet is sparkling, flowery, and slightly malty. The flavor is malty and strong.
- Assam, India
- Malty and strong, yet very smooth.

A good quality black tea at a very good price. Definitely an above-average black tea, definitely better than what’s called “builders tea”, which in the UK is basically a cheap black tea, a kind of tea that your standard Bigelow black tea approximates. I like its rich texture, it’s pretty easy drinking. Due to its high caffeine content, be aware of what time of day you drink it. I would get this again but I want to try other Indian teas next, because if the South Indian White Oothu is any indication (which I’ve also had), India is producing out some pretty good teas. If you like black teas, this is worth considering.
